How it works
- 1
Your spotter walks ahead
Always moving ahead and in position before your shot.
- 2
They watch every shot
Ignore them. Just play. Their only job is watching your ball.
- 3
Go right to your ball
A flag or a spotter marks your ball. Go right up, ask for a yardage if you want one, and take your shot.
They are not joining your group.
Always out ahead, keeping to themselves. No small talk, no fuss.
Common questions
Why would I want a spotter?
Ever hit a shot, swear you saw where it landed, then can't find the ball? With a spotter, you go straight to it. They're already there.
Playing for money or keeping score? Saves you a stroke, and keeps buddies honest on drops.
Do they carry our bags?
No, bags stay on the cart. Spotting is a walking job, so your spotter is out ahead of the group the whole round.
Do spotters give yardages?
Yes, if you want them. Say so at the first tee and your spotter will call the distance to the center of the green each time you reach your ball. Every spotter carries a rangefinder or a golf GPS app.
